Gateway FHD2400 24 - inch widescreen LCD HD monitor review

I bought this Gateway FHD2400 24 - inch widescreen LCD HD monitor a week ago in best buy. It was $479. Honestly, this Gateway 24 - inch LCD was not my first choose, the reason is that there is one Hannspree 28 - inch monitor was $549 (see my another review for Hannspree - 28 - inch LCD Monitor ) . I thought that I may need a 28 - inch monitor more than a 24 - inch one. Unluckily, the Hannspree monitor had some problems, so the best buy staff suggested me to choose thie Gateway 24 - inch monitor.

Ok, now, let me back to the topic

This Gateway 24 - inch widescreen LCD HD monitor has classic black frame, and with an aluminum bar across the bottom of frame. It has a adjustable silver stand, and the stand can be tilted, swiveled and rotated 90 degree. More than this, there are 2 small wheels under the silver stand. These two small wheels design makes you really easy to move this monitor to face any direction you want. adjustable and the tilt

In the bottom of the frame that is labled that : HD 1080p (high-definition) , 1920 X 1200 ( the max resolution, 16:10 HD format ) , Universak Input (HDMI, DVI, VGA Component, Composite,S-Video ) , UltraResponse 3ms ( 3-millisecond response time ), UltraColor Gamut 92%, 4-port USB 2.0 Hub.

This display includes a DVI and HDMI input compliant with High - Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) standards, so you can use it as a 1080p HDTV. I watched some of my HD movies on this LCD HD monitor, those videos look incredible. However, the DVI-HDMI cable was not included with this monitor. If you want to get the best image quality, I highly recommend you to buy a DVI-HDMI cable. Using correct and high stand cable to hook up your video card and monitor, it will give you a big supprise. By the way, if you connect you PC and this monitor via HDMI cable, that will carry both the video and audio signals. If you want to spend $50 more, you can get a optional SPEAKER BAR. You can hook up your Play Station-3 or Xbox-360 via HDMI cable.

Like my old Gateway 22 - inch LCD monitor, this 24 - inch LCD monitor still keeps the Gateway old design - The EZtune touch menu is in the left side. Maybe, this touch menu is a little bit harder for a new user. I have one 22 - inch Gateway monitor , so I have not any problem to use this touch menu.

This Gateway 24 inch LCD monitor is really easy hook up with my computer. It is instantly recognized by my Vista system, and my PNY 9600 GT video card (I did not use the attached EZtune software to adjust the color).

By the way, this monitor marked as ENERGY STAR - high standard of energy efficiency. ( Best Buy said that it helps you save 10-50% energy )

Only one concern is that monitor is kind of too bright for me. I almost take 3 days to be comfortable with this bright screen.

For what you got, this $479 price tage is resaonable. Overall, this Gateway FHD2400 24 - inch widescreen LCD HD monitor is real impressive !!!.

[UPDATE 2008-04-18] I trun one this monitor for a week, only turn of for a couple of hours, running not hot. It is working perfect !!!
